I found this jewel way up the fresh water Chickahominy River. The owner ended up with two boats and really needs to sell this boat. His loss can be your gain. Since its introduction in 1975, the 36' Europa has been a hit with live aboard and cruising couples alike. Her practical accommodations, and her extremely economical operation, make her a much sought after trawler. She rides on a solid fiberglass hull with hard aft chines, a well-flared bow that handles the roughest seas, and a long, prop-protecting keel. Below, her full teak interior includes two staterooms with the owner's cabin to port and the guest stateroom forward. A tub/shower is found in the single head compartment, and the galley is portside. A sliding door at the helm provides quick access to the deck area, while a hatch in the salon sole provides access to the large engine room. On deck, bridge overhangs shelter the sidedeck and cockpit from rain and sun. The flybridge has enough room to store a dingy, and her crane could become useable in a flash. She sport plenty of teak trim, and her classic bow and anchor design is timeless. The Lehman 135 hp diesel has only 50 hours on her and I started it on the first crank and she purrs like a kitten. The generator started first try also and works as if it were new. She'll cruise all day long at 7-8 knots and has a top speed of about 12 knots, faster downhill ! At only 2.5 GPH she costs almost nothing to run.
She was hauled in April 2010 and had the bottom cleaned and two coats of Micron CSC bottom paint. The owner just installed 2 new Cruisair reverse heat A/C units to keep cool on hot VA afternoons. Docking is a breeze with her large bow thruster. While you cruise along, listen to her new stereo, and navigate with her Navman GPS, Raytheon Radar, and autopilot. This is an older boat but her mechanicals are new, and she will run trouble free to Florida tomorrow, and is very comfortable and cheap to run. With a little spit and polish she would look like a new boat, as her timeless design is still being built today.
