In the fishing boat hall of fame, no boat looms larger than the Albemarle. She is sought after by tournament fisherman world-wide. When the water is rough enough that the larger boats are headed for the dock, the Albemarles stay out to get the really big fish.
Albemarle boats are all built by serious fisherman, for serious fisherman. She features a wide open cockpit that has plenty of room for you, and a crew to work the fish. Her fighting chair is ready to be fished from and there is still plenty of work around room. The owner had a new isinglass & canvas enclosure done just last year. It will help you stay out of the colder fall weather. Her cabin is spacious for a 27 foot boat, with a V-Berth forward, a compact galley area, and a standup head. She is comfortable enough to weekend with the wife, and has plenty of storage for all of your gear, and its all in the right places. She has enough rod holders, and they are where they need to be. Her gunwales are at the right height for gaffing or tagging. You will love the huge fishboxes and livewells, with a well-designed bait station. She is equipped with 22 Lee Outriggers that are triple rigged, and a 12 center rigger.
Her Volvo-Penta 5.7 GSi engines have been repowered, and have less than 400 hours on them. Her manifolds and risers were new in 2008. Her 290 Duo Prop drives make her a joy to handle around the docks. With this power package you can run out 70 miles to the stream, troll all day long, and run hard to get home, and burn less than 150 gallons of fuel. The Albemarle hull is so efficient that you can stay on plane at 16 knots, or you can cruise all day long at 25 knots at only 3400 RPM.
If you do the math, this is a 25 year old boat. What is remarkable is that it is exactly the same hull as a brand new 2011, 280 Albemarle. This speaks volumes about the quality of her hull design. Her hull and deck look great, and I am sure she could use some TLC. The bottom line is that you can own a tournament quality boat for a fraction of the cost of a newer boat. What she really needs is someone to take her out where the big fish play, and build some family fishing memories with her.
